United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs

UNOOSA | General Assembly

Committee Introduction

Founded in 1958, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) aims to foster peaceful collaboration between countries regarding the exploration and development of the space industry. UNOOSA is known for tackling astronomically complex issues, and this iteration of BELLARMUN will be working to address the privatization of space, along with the use of space military. With outer space playing such a vital role in the world around us, delegates must fight to protect it, and consequently the wellbeing of our whole world, through fast-paced debate and other-worldly collaboration. We hope you join UNOOSA in the fight for a peaceful, collaborative galaxy, and we cannot wait to see you in our out-of-this-world committee!

Dais

  • Anna Freimarck is a senior at Bellarmine and is absolutely thrilled to be serving as the Chair of UNOOSA for BELLARMUN 2024. After going to her first conference with her sister in her sophomore year, Anna fell in love with all aspects of Model UN, including getting lost in cities with her friends, hastily writing resolution papers, and finding her place in the amazing MUN community. Outside of her diplomatic pursuits, Anna can be found chasing her grumpy cat around the house, dominating endless Minecraft worlds, or playing intense games of tennis with her dad. She cannot wait to watch all delegates fall in love with debate and diplomacy in the same way she did, and make a memorable weekend at BELLARMUN!

  • Anya Moravek is a sophomore at Bellarmine and is ecstatic to serve as the Assistant Director of UNOOSA for BELLARMUN 2024! After witnessing her friends at PACMUN and how much fun they had, Anya herself wanted to join. She talked to the head teacher for Model UN and found herself traveling to Canada where she had a memorable experience. The proposition of ideas and creating a resolution that incorporates everyone's thoughts is Anya’s main goal, which she strives to achieve at every MUN conference she attends. Outside of the world of MUN, Anya is an active tennis player playing around the country as well as an active pursuer of TV shows. Anya cannot wait to witness the memories and experiences that every delegate will experience at BELLARMUN!

  • Genevieve Davis is a sophomore at Bellarmine Prep and is so excited to be serving as the director for UNOOSA for BELLARMUN 2024! She first began her MUN journey in 8th grade as a scared and confused middle schooler, who accidentally signed herself up for an advanced committee at BELLARMUN 2021, but ever since then, she has always found herself gravitating towards the world of MUN. The quick moving debate and energizing environment is truly what is Genevieve’s favorite thing about Model UN. Aside from MUN, Genevieve enjoys racing sailboats in Gig Harbor, going on nature hikes, and listening to egregious amounts of Taylor Swift and Frank Ocean. Genevieve is so excited for all the fun memories she will make at BELLARMUN this year and cannot wait to meet all the amazing delegates!
